TREATING DROOPY LIDS

AT LUXE AESTHETICS

What is Blepharoplasty?

Droopy eyelids refers to eyelids that tend to descend to the point that they block the pupil and effect peripheral vision. This may occur as a result of aging, eyelid surgery, trauma, or genetics. Another caumon cause is Pseudoptosis, which the artificial appearance of droopy eyelids actually caused by excess of skin or fat in the upper eyelids.

Blepharoplasty rejuvenates the eye area by removing excess skin, reducing lower eyelid bags, and lifting drooping upper lids. It enhances both appearance and vision, offering a youthful, refreshed look and boosting confidence.

Blepharoplasty at Luxe Aesthetics

Rejuvenate and Refine

Blepharoplasty, commonly known as eyelid surgery, is a transformative procedure that enhances the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids. Over time, the delicate skin around the eyes can lose elasticity, leading to sagging, puffiness, and fine lines that contribute to a tired or aged look. This procedure carefully refines and restores the natural contours of the eyelids, unveiling a more youthful, refreshed appearance.

At Luxe Aesthetics, we understand that eyelid surgery is both an art and a science. Whether performed for cosmetic enhancement or functional improvement, our expert surgeons use precise techniques to achieve natural, balanced results. For those experiencing vision obstruction due to excess skin, blepharoplasty can also improve sight by removing drooping tissue that impairs the field of vision.

This highly effective procedure can address concerns such as:

  • Sagging or excess skin on the upper eyelids

  • Under-eye bags and puffiness

  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes

  • Hooded eyelids that alter the natural eye contour

Blepharoplasty is often performed alone but can also be complemented by additional procedures such as laser treatments for a more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. Bilateral Upper Eyelid Blepharoplasty

During upper eyelid surgery (upper blepharoplasty), your surgeon removes excess fatty tissue that contributes to the appearance of puffy, droopy eyelids. Incisions are made along the natural creases of the upper eyelids to minimize scarring and achieve a more natural look. In some instances, the surgeon may reposition the muscles beneath the eyelids. Afterward, the remaining skin is lifted and reattached, resulting in a more youthful appearance, and fine sutures are used to close the incisions. primary goal of upper eyelid surgery is to help patients look refreshed, improve their vision, and enhance their overall well-being

Bilateral Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

Lower eyelid surgery primarily targets the removal of fat deposits that often accumulate under the eyes. By eliminating these fat deposits and tightening loose skin, the procedure achieves a firmer, smoother and more youthful appearance above the cheeks. Additionally, it allows for the repositioning of fat in the hollow areas beneath the eyes, enhancing skin plumpness and preventing a sunken look. During the surgery, your surgeon will make an incision either on the inside of the eyelid, leaving no visible scar, or just beneath the lower eyelashes in a discreet location to minimize scarring and ensure a natural appearance. Once access is gained, the surgeon removes excess muscle, fat, and skin as necessary, redis some fat to reduce uneven swelling and puffiness. This procedure can also address muscle laxity, making it an effective solution for improving the area under your eyes. Schedule a consultation with our team to learn more.

Blepharoplasty FAQ

1. What is Blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a specialized surgical procedure designed to remove or reposition excess skin and fat from the upper and/or lower eyelids. While many patients pursue blepharoplasty to improve their appearance, it is also commonly performed to correct eyelid heaviness that interferes with vision. At Luxe Aesthetics, blepharoplasty is performed by fellowship-trained oculofacial plastic surgeons who understand the delicate balance between aesthetic refinement and ocular health. The goal is natural restoration, helping you look brighter and more rested while preserving proper eyelid function.

2. Who is a Good Candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Good candidates for blepharoplasty are generally healthy individuals who experience drooping or heavy upper eyelids, persistent under-eye bags, puffiness, or a tired appearance that does not reflect how they feel. Some patients also notice reduced peripheral vision caused by excess upper eyelid skin. Ideal candidates have realistic expectations and understand that eyelid surgery restores structure rather than dramatically changing facial identity. A comprehensive consultation at Luxe Aesthetics allows us to evaluate eyelid anatomy, brow position, and ocular health to determine whether surgery is appropriate.

3. How Long Does the Procedure Take?

The length of a blepharoplasty procedure depends on whether surgery is performed on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids, or both. In most cases, the procedure takes between one and three hours. Eyelid surgery is typically performed on an outpatient basis, meaning patients return home the same day after a short recovery period.

4. What is the recovery time after blepharoplasty?

Recovery varies from person to person, but most patients feel comfortable returning to normal social activities within ten to fourteen days. Swelling and bruising are most noticeable during the first week and gradually improve over the following weeks. While early healing occurs quickly, subtle swelling may continue to refine over several months as tissues settle and incision lines soften. Following post-operative instructions carefully helps ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results.

5. Are there any risks associated with blepharoplasty?

Blepharoplasty is considered very safe when performed by experienced oculofacial plastic surgeons. However, as with any surgical procedure, there are potential risks. These may include temporary swelling, bruising, dry eye symptoms, infection, bleeding, or temporary blurred vision. Rarely, patients may experience difficulty fully closing their eyes during early healing. Choosing a surgeon with advanced training in both ophthalmology and eyelid surgery significantly reduces risk and protects long-term eyelid function and eye health.

6. Will there be visible scars after blepharoplasty?

Incisions for upper eyelid surgery are carefully placed within the natural crease of the eyelid, while lower eyelid incisions are positioned just beneath the lash line or inside the eyelid. Because of this precise placement, scars are typically minimal and well concealed once healed. Over time, incision lines continue to fade and soften, often becoming barely noticeable.

7. How long do the results of blepharoplasty last?

The results of blepharoplasty are long-lasting. While the natural aging process continues, the structural improvements achieved during surgery remain for many years. Maintaining healthy skin habits, protecting the delicate eyelid area from sun exposure, and following good lifestyle practices can help preserve results even longer.
